Visitors, please feel free to add your comments anywhere. Click on "reply" up there ^ in the blue zone. The Montrose Peace Vigil is an ad hoc bunch of locals who have advertised for peace and justice on a street corner in suburban Southern California for more than four years. But we have other activities, including this message board since Oct. 2008, another place many of us gather. Here's a quick link to a page about our participation in the march down Hollywood Boulevard marking the seventh anniversary of the invasion of Iraq last month, including group photos: montrosepeacevigil.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=talk2&action=display&thread=121&page=2And this page, also accessible from the Info Center on the homepage, will always give you the 25 most recent posts from every topic on the board, with the newest one first: montrosepeacevigil.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=recent

Welcome to Montrose Peace Vigil's message board! This isn't a website or even a chatroom. It's just a forum, familiar to most long-time users of the Internet. The homepage is divided into six departments. Click on any of them and you'll find our topics, with the more popular threads running several pages. For example, here's a page from the "Vigils in May" thread with talk about our first Memorial Day observance along with news of the regular Friday evening vigils on the corner of Honolulu and Ocean View in Montrose, California, where we've gathered every week since January 2006: montrosepeacevigil.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=talk&action=display&thread=131&page=2Another link directly from the homepage gives the 25 most recent posts, with the latest on top: montrosepeacevigil.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=recentYou do not have to register to add your thoughts to this board. But members can edit their posts and they do not have to type a security code like guests do. Please feel welcome to click on "reply" and join any discussion -- or start another.

Most of the guests on this message board lately have been robotic search engines, but still there are many random and unknown visitors every week. Welcome! This is my monthly invitation to post a comment, ask a question or just say hello. Just click on this link and start typing in the message field: montrosepeacevigil.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=post&thread=80&page=3Guests will have to check the ProBoards terms of service agreement and retype some ad copy -- geez, that's new -- which somehow proves you are human enough to post. Thank you for visiting!

Our message board might be getting new visitors from two sources.
Roberta bought copies of a flyer by the War Resisters League in New York -- with clean facts and cool charts on current military spending -- printed with Montrose Peace Vigil as the local contact in large type, along with our weekly place and time, and the web address of this board. Thank you, Roberta!
Two months ago I signed up for a directory that ProBoards was assembling of the forums they host, like this one, that was supposed to appear on their homepage. It still hasn't, but the directory is being used with ProBoards' new iPhone app -- I've seen posts via iPhones showing up on another forum. We're listed under the category of News and Current Events as "Montrose Peace Vigil message board" with the subscript, "Activities and interests of peaceniks based in Montrose, Calif." Right beside an icon of the globe.
We hope our guests will feel at home here.

Allow me to pay tribute to the newest member of this message board, Joyce, who was among the more than 100 people who came to our regular corner in Montrose on the fifth anniversary of the Iraq invasion in 2008, which had been advertised by Move On. Joyce works nearby during our Friday vigils, but she showed up and marched with the Montrose Peace Vigil and a couple thousand other peaceniks one Saturday in Hollywood. And this month, she helped to fund our entry in the Montrose Christmas Parade and then to steer the Peace Train down Honolulu Avenue. Great things happen when Joyce is around! The City of Glendale has streaming video of the entire parade on its website. I understand people with Apple computers can't view it. The rest of us can see the Peace Train beginning at 01:06:00 -- glendale.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=18&clip_id=2691

Hear, hear to guests, vigils, Trains, rain, and yes, even the end of rain for awhile!!!
And let me say that not wanting to cope with threads is no drawback to chatting here, just use the latest one like I am known to do ;-)
The Picture Peace banner people (Jim, Bruce, Jeanne and I) took advantage of one of the few semi-dry hours (Monday a.m.) since the heavens opened up last week, to an extra-good # of waves, honks, and peacesigns, especially considering the light traffic at the corner.
And it looks like we will have dry skies for Friday. Hallejulah, the Peace Train can come out and make smiles.
Sharon, I think a good thing about DREAM not passing (well, in addition to further eroding the Latino vote for d.r.'s) was that this version didn't include a *non-military* national service option. Seeing negatives means you know the score, not that you/we won't keep up the good fight!

And let me say that not wanting to cope with threads is no drawback to chatting here, just use the latest one like I am known to do ;-) Absolutely, Roberta! I'm grateful for every one of the 1578 posts that I didn't write currently on this message board. Guests are invited to click on "reply" in the blue areas at the top and bottom of any page. Google has been surveying our forum constantly each day since January 2010. Type "Montrose Peace Vigil" on the yandex.com search engine in Russia or on Sweden's entireweb.com and you'll get the link to this message board. Only yesterday, we received our first visit from exalead.com/search/web/ in Paris, France, and this web destination is already listed at the top of their search. Which probably explains the greater number of strangers visiting the board -- actual unknown human beings, not known Internet robots. Hello to all of the earthlings who've been our guests in just the past ten days from Russia, Germany and Venezuela along with those stateside in Washington, Nevada, Arizona, Kansas, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Connecticut and Virginia. Not to mention the unfamiliar IP addresses I've seen from Southern California. Everybody, please feel free to join the discussions!
