Even when we're not standing on a street corner Friday evenings, Montrose Peace Vigil is reaching out to the community. Our old friend Henry from Glendale Peace Vigil asked Roberta for a short flyer he could hand out during an event at All Saints Church in Pasadena. What Roberta wrote is the perfect kick off for the eighth page of this Guests Are Welcome! thread: The Montrose Peace Vigil gathers every Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on the northwest corner of Honolulu Avenue and Ocean View Boulevard in the Montrose Shopping Park. We have stood for peace each week beginning in January 2006. The Montrose vigil now welcomes members of the Glendale Peace Vigil who convened regularly from 2001 through 2012 in downtown Glendale.
These “standing meetings” every Friday are also our opportunity to share information, make plans and arrive at consensus about activities beyond the vigil. One major project is bringing the peace message to a large, mainstream audience via “The Peace Train,” our beautiful, hand-painted, person-powered entry in the annual Montrose Christmas Parade ( www.montrosechristmasparade.com/ ).
The parade steps off at 6:00 p.m. on the 1st Saturday night of December every year, and we gather for fellowship and warming nourishment beforehand at a residence near the parade route.
All peaceniks are cordially welcome to join us every Friday and on The Peace Train! You can visit us online at montrosepeacevigil.proboards.com or contact Roberta at (818) 248-8151 for more information.

As the administrators of the Montrose Peace Vigil message board, Anni and I have allowed everyone to register directly as members for five years. Last week, dozens of spammers registered here to embed their links in their member profiles and then start new threads containing the URL's to their websites -- the goal is to raise their links' ranking on Google and other search engines. We deleted every trace of them, but it's a time consuming process, and we can't be online 24 hours a day.
Now when you register, you will get a screen saying that your membership is subject to approval before you can modify your profile or post as a member. Anni and I can approve your membership, usually within 12 hours. You'll receive an e-mail from Montrose Peace Vigil with the subject line, "Account Approved: (your user name)," inviting you to come back and log in. We appreciate all of the good people who've joined this board -- and we are sorry that we've had to slow down the process for new members.
However, we will still allow guests to post. You do not have to register or log in to post replies in any thread, or even start a new one. Our ears -- and this message board -- are always open. As for the inevitable spam posts, we can delete each commercial abuse of this space with two clicks.

The 2013 Peace Train crew before marching in the Montrose Christmas Parade. The Peace Train's fourth year in the Montrose Christmas Parade was the most enjoyable yet, and not just because it was the Peace Train's first excursion on wheels. The spectators provided the warmth on an unusually cold night. The stalwarts of the Montrose/Glendale Peace Vigils were joined by members of Crescenta Valley United Methodist Church, some previous vigil participants and many friends. All of us are grateful to Roberta for coordinating and Mike for engineering everything. Some of the Montrose Peace Vigil contingent who marched on Hollywood Boulevard in March 2010. This month, Montrose Peace Vigil will mark our 8th anniversary of gathering every Friday evening from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on the corner of Ocean View Boulevard and Honolulu Avenue in Montrose, California. In between vigils, we also get together here. The link below will take you to the only page on this message board -- Recent Posts -- that shows the latest post first.
