I'm increasingly disappointed in the Democratic Party for not being able to come up with a unifying candidate. It really shouldn't be that hard to find a viable challenger to the most corrupt president in modern history.

I'm reminded of something Will Rogers said, "I am not a member of any organized party — I am a Democrat."

The primaries are the mechanism to come up with a candidate. Loyal Dem that I am, I have never weigned in about the primary process so don’t think I can fuss at this point. Plus I don’t mind all of them competing, though I’m not thrilled with the numerical approach of donors/donations/polls to keep some out of the debates.

I knew that if I listened to Amy Klobuchar long enough, I'd hear her say something I disagreed with. At tonight's debate, she said that she wouldn't ban fracking for natural gas. On the other hand, she brought up the need to reduce the deficit and said she'd increase corporate taxes to pay for it.
Last summer, I expected Joe Biden to fade and figured that Amy would pick up some of his voters. That ain't happening. Still, the polls in Iowa continue to report that nearly half of the potential caucus goers haven't made up their minds. And I'm hoping that she benefits from the process in each precinct where voters for a candidate who doesn't attract 15 percent go on to choose another candidate. Amy has the organization in Iowa to harvest additional supporters.
Only 19 days remain until the caucus.

Gotta admit, the Democratic presidential debate in Las Vegas on February 19 was much livelier than the previous eight.
Is it just me, or is Bloomberg making Biden look like a better candidate? Still, I must give Joe credit for another good night.
Amy was perfect. I hope she finishes well in Nevada so she remains viable in California's primary -- less than two weeks away on the calendar, but voters are casting their ballots now.
I'm also rooting for Elizabeth, who would be my number two if I were caucusing in the Silver State, where three choices are required. I'm glad that I don't have to make a third choice to cast a ballot in the Golden State.

We watched the Vegas debate too and again thought the moderators were the losers - just trying to gin up ratings. I miss the old days when journalists actually wanted to probe ideas. Still going with Warren at this point, but last night gave me hope for an open convention. I'd love to see Stacey Abrams and especially Barbara Lee on the ticket. Barbara Lee's stand on the Iraq War indicated to me she's got a better view of foreign policy than any of the candidates. Bloomberg makes all the other candidates look better. He really should just drop out, and keep spending on ads that educate people about the T/P regime corruption.

I'm with Sharon. When PBS' Jim Lehrer died last month, I was reminded of how presidential debates used to be conducted. I miss Gwen Ifill too.
And I remember that Sharon's been touting Barbara Lee for vice president at least since 2008, when Sharon wanted Barbara Boxer and Barbara Lee, the all Barbara ticket. However, both were from California, which would have been prohibited under the Constitution. That's why Dick Cheney moved from Texas and became a Wyoming resident in 2000.

I always liked Barbara Lee's policies better than Boxer's!

The more I watch the presidential debates, the less I have to say about them -- and I viewed the tenth Democratic debate on Tuesday in its entirety. The CBS News moderators were better than average. But there's always one huge topic ignored, and tonight it was immigration, according to the MSNBC pundits. For me, it's nuclear weapons. We're electing a commander in chief, not the chief debater.
Super Tuesday is next week. Amy Klobuchar may never set foot in California again. She's spending the rest of her cash running in states like Arkansas and Oklahoma, hoping for more delegates at the convention before she inevitably drops out of the race. I applaud Amy, but I'm done contributing to her campaign. Next Tuesday, I'll vote for Elizabeth Warren, who has a great chance of racking up more than 15 percent of the votes in my Congressional district, served by Adam Schiff.
