Here is a video taken from the Crowded House website featuring the opening song of the Montreal performance.
If you click on it, please 'expand' the screen so that it involves the entire surface of your monitor. Turn the lights out in the room, connect your headphones to the computer...and suddenly...you are sitting at a table five feet from the center of the stage with four friends who are all on the same page as you as far as loving this music:
Here is a youtube of a song I had asked Neil for in Montreal which he said they couldn't do without his son being on stage. I'd like to think he remembered that request and however delayed...here it is:
Say that Again:
and in case you missed it on the Jimmy Fallon show...here it is again:
Twice if You're Lucky:

another video of the David Byrne/Crowded House performance.
another wide screen must see--this time ultra close up.
if you want to see the expression on Neil's face all the way through this, one might surmise he is in absolute heaven: ;D

And see how happy David Byrne of Talking Heads is singing their biggest hit with Neil Finn and Crowded House at the Bowery Ballroom in New York three days ago. Thank you, Martine! I've read many incredible reviews about this tour on the Internets, but I still love yours on Next Exit the most.
You know, as long as middle aged people keep growing, there is hope in this world.
I have lots to say about the album and this tour, but it will have to come after the weekend.

Did you know that a few years ago he gave a power point presentation at LACMA? His topic was power point presentations. I have amused myself with that thought during many a faculty meeting. Brian, I agree about the growing. To quote one of my favorite "middle aged" artists, "He who's not busy being born is busy dying."

Here's another one:
I got goose bumps. David Byrne is a great, quirky genius. Yikes, me too Jeanne. What an entrance! The previous You Tube clip starts after David Byrne takes the stage with Crowded House in New York and has crappy, overmodulated audio but great close ups. Yours sounds great and reveals that David enters during a segue from "Weather With You" after singing the opening lines of "Once in a Lifetime" backstage -- and that clip embedded above only had 198 views when I watched it. Did Martine already know about this one before Jeanne posted? The only thing I'm sure about after this weekend is that the new Crowded House CD is a keeper.

I didn't have to look very far and wide for the youtubes I posted earlier (as they all fell onto my lap on my facebook) This new one you've posted I think only surfaced yesterday, so great find. I'd seen the one youtube where it looks like it was shot from back in the room (not this one) and then the very closeup one, actually filmed & uploaded by someone I know. I like the closeup one (audio notwithstanding) because had I *been there* that's where I would've been standing *grin*
Even though standing or sitting close can result in less than ideal audio experiences....I figure that's what the record is for (*grins*)
Speaking of middle aged people....Several times over the last few months and indeed, during my time on the road I questioned my sanity regarding the trip and the whirlwind drive through southern Ontario and into Quebec and the singing and dancing my way through all the shows I saw ...
and then I figured, well, you're dead for a long time and if this leaves you with lasting pleasurable memories, I guess it doesn't matter how old you are....especially if you still have the stamina and interest to keep up.
I was the *oldest* fan in our gang (not counting the band where two of the musicians are even older than I am) (How the hell do they do it? Maybe it's that Hawaiian herb that Jenn was telling us about.
It's all relative, baby.

I came to a similar conclusion after I got something to keep my face from drying out and itching and had the thought, OMG, I'm putting on wrinkle cream for a Dead show! That was 20 years ago. A convenient thing about being older: my 68 yr old sister brought her temp handicapped placard (due to a bad hip) to the David Lindley/Jackson Browne concert at the Greek Friday night and it allowed us to park at the blue curb - fastest exit we've ever made from that venue. Excellent show too.
