I relate to being unconnected. A certain someone (me) misread the fine print and doesn't have wi-fi at the beach afterall, hence the silence. Today after the beach (beautiful) John and Lizzie dropped me off for some quality time at the internet cafe while they shopped at the tie-dye shop. Can you really ever have too many? Apparently not.
The pictures of MPV at the bed-in and in Hollywood peace marching make me homesick. OBX is fun, and having Corah and Liz both with us is wonderful, still I'll be glad to be home.
See you at Empty Bowls this Sunday!!!

I'm sitting next to Anni at the library and I haven't even told her yet that I got the O.K. today to leave work early on the 19th, so we'll see Crowded House play two days in a row. So you guys are the first to know. Thanks to Jeanne and Roberta for posting while we were deprived of the Internets!

Your veggies and yoga classes have been wonderful. They will make me better at standing for peace. I'll see you Sunday at Empty Bowls with your new veggies.

Besides having more lifetime roaming minutes than my homebody hubby, I have Jeanne who can out-Roberta Roberta and still be Jeanne to manage LAUSD etc. etc. etc.! Now if I could just pull off being here at home and traveling too!!!

I decided that Anni and I really need a break, so I'm taking three days off from work and attaching them to a weekend. Our brief vacation starts with trips to Hollywood and downtown for the Crowded House shows on Thursday and Friday. Then what? We wanted to leave town for some cooler place without driving too far, which means the mountains or the beach. I looked for cabins in Big Bear at first. Then I read the tour itinerary that Martine e-mailed me last March -- Crowded House plays in San Diego on Sunday night. Anni raises a good question: Is it possible to get too much of Neil Finn? We'll let you know next week. I've followed him since he joined Split Enz 33 years ago, and he likes to shake up the setlist from stage to stage every tour. But I could not resist the package offered by Humphreys Concerts by the Bay: www.humphreysconcerts.com/packages.cfmWill this be the most stress-free concert experience of our long lives? After a leisurely drive -- about the same distance as that hellhole known as the Coachella Valley -- we putter onto a little island in the San Diego Bay and check into a junior suite of a semi-luxury hotel, where we freshen up and what-not, and eat dinner at a serious restaurant. Then we take our seats in second row center at a 1400-seat amphitheater on the water. I can walk to the bar in the back and get more beer during "Don't Dream It's Over." Anni and I could end our romantic evening strolling the marina while I try to find a place that I can smoke.

Only last year we were waiting in the Horrible Concrete Heat with our beautiful Martine, yes, 2 nights in a row. Ahhhhhh, the oasis is Neil Finn and our savage hearts, healed.
Tonight it's over to Hollywood and our favorite record store, Amoeba, and our favorite Crowded House. More to Come... ;D
