Every spinner was a winner at the Glendale Peace Vigil's game booth at Glendale Cruise Night on Saturday. People of all ages lined up to win postcards, bumper stickers, bookmarks, buttons, balloons and pencils, every item communicating a message of peace and justice. No money changed hands.
And there was no food at the War Budget Cafe that Roberta set up so beautifully at the other end of the booth, just war toys and peanuts on the checkered tablecloths along with plastic menu stands listing some of the useless weapons that were bought instead by your tax dollars. A lot of folks sat down at the tables to sign messages to President Obama and post them in a miniature U.S. mailbox.
I took some photos that Anni will post in this thread.

What an excellent time I had an Cruise Night. I thought it all went great! The conversations and interactions were all really positively rewarding. Thinking back I really can't recall any negative/hostile comments.
Like the U.S. mail I didn't move very far Sunday. Today I emptied, sorted, counted and perused all our postcards to President Obama. Some data:
Mission Accomplished (Already) = 52 War Is NOT the Answer = 42 What You Said, MJr. President = 51 War $$$ Home = 39
Which I make to be 184.
I couldn't resist an ethnic tally, expecting heavy Armenian surnames, which there are, but more or at least as many, Latino names. There was a certain amount of randomness as to which notes people signed. If they didn't happily sign all four as many did!
Anni's adorable mailbox was a huge hit, kids I enlisted in off the street to "mail" notes then brought back their own adults so they could feed the slot some more. It is safe and sound in my garage with the war toys platters, til our next outreach! At the corner?
