I think I'm bringing back my coats back to do more - maybe finish - the linings & I'll look around for new stuff to mend. It's nice having my mended ceramic cat magnet back on my fridge.
Still don't see the second blurb that Brian wrote on Yoko's website, just the first one that I wrote that Roberta found. but that one has the proboard link to us. Christina might be back. She said, "such a great concept."
I'll be there at 5 tommorow. What about anybody else? "Seams Like Peace." Can't wait.

I'll bring the table (and anything else I promised to bring, help me out here?) at 5:00.
Something always needs mending around here, I'll bring it!
On Monday I sent a news note, cribbing from postings here and giving links, to the City Editor at the News-Press. As I reminded him, our Bed-In made great reading, and so will the Mend-In.
Who knows, they could send out a reporter and/or photographer -- be ready for your close up peaceniks!

Thank you, Nancy, for the Yoko posting, and Roberta for sending our info to the Glendale News-Press! I'll bring the table (and anything else I promised to bring, help me out here?) at 5:00. Your wonderful assortment of glues on the table last week made an effective display for the Mend-In for the pedestrians, dog walkers and frozen yogurt eaters on the corner, even if nobody stopped to use them.

I'll bring the table (and anything else I promised to bring, help me out here?) at 5:00. Just two of us at 5, Roberta- like the very beginning - full circle. I used your glue last week & Brian is right about how it gives credance to the whole thing & that would be great if we could get some press coverage. Thanks & thanks Brian, Anni & Jeanne. I'll be there at 5, damage & all.

I missed the first half of this week's Mend-In, but Nancy told me that a lot of folks stopped to talk and lend goodwill before I got to the Montrose Peace Vigil on Friday. The sight of people sewing on a street corner must seem puzzling to the people rolling by in cars, yet pedestrians either love it or are at least bemused. Certainly, the War Is Over Mending Circle is an effective demonstration for raising consciousness. And it also raises ours. As for the soul mending promised by Yoko Ono, I'll leave it to the participants to say. We had two with professional credentials: our dear friend Pastor Paige, back after a long absence, and Tim, a Catholic priest and friend of Nancy, at his first Montrose Peace Vigil. This is what got done, specifically: - Paige brought a torn pillow from the sofa in her church's community room.
- Nancy finished mending the holes in the lining of her long coat.
- Roberta, having attached a new collar to front of her blue shirt last week, whimsically stitched the back with chartreuse thread where it wouldn't be seen.
- Linda embroidered a flower to address a hole in Jeanne's blouse.
- Jeanne added a heart-shaped patch to her flannel shirt, cut from the old collar, then fixed the frayed button holes.
- And Anni repaired a split seam in a pair of shorts.
It seemed pretty dark to me by 6:45, but the sewing continued under the streetlights until 7. The War Is Over Mending Circle -- so well received by passersby, sew satisfying for the participants -- will return to the Montrose Peace Vigil next spring, unless war truly ends by then.

If replacing an essential missing item can be termed "mending", Mike did it big time this past Friday and gave us back the U.S. flag for the first time since spring 2008.
His cleverly-engineered PVC pole, built in pieces and assembled there at the corner worked like a charm. I was his installation assistant and his system was so foolproof that even I could do it. Louisa did the honors to help take it all down at 7pm.
All without any mar or mark on"their" flag pole, which we persist in believing actually belongs to all.
Too bad Bruce wasn't there to see it even though he was instrumental in encouraging Mike. I saw Mike snapping away with his phone capturing images of the flag.
If only he would post them here and Bruce would drop in to view!

I read somewhere many years ago that "care" and "cure" are the same word in Latin. Carpe Hem. And re Roberta's comment, getting Bruce and Mike on this site would mend a gap.
