Ads on the Montrose Peace Vigil message board have been blocked since late December 2021. To date, members and guests have viewed more than 136,000 ad free pages. Before I blocked them, the message board only displayed narrow rectangular ads on the top and bottom of each page. Now the ads have become more pervasive, approaching the clutter you see on most websites these days (even those you pay to visit). I'm also a member of another ProBoards forum called Next Exit, where I've seen a lot of changes recently. The top and bottom ads now vary in size and shape -- and if you don't scroll them away, the spaces will often change sponsors, sizes and formats constantly with motion and multiple messages in each one. So I would adjust the scroll bar to cut out the ads. But just the other day they added a new intrusion: those ads that creep up from the bottom, which you cannot delete. It's even worse when I'm logged out of Next Exit -- guests get automatic pop ups on every page. I spend a lot of time here. The $6 that ProBoards charges for ad free service is my favorite recurring monthly credit card charge -- and the greatest bargain just for my own peace of mind. But it also makes the Montrose Peace Vigil message board a rare oasis on the internet.

Last daylight of 2023: I took this photo of 6 of the 11 participants in the Montrose Peace Vigil on November 3, the last vigil of the year with Daylight Saving Time.

Montrose Peace Vigil -- a proud Silver sponsor of the Montrose Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 2, 2023 -- marched for the 12th consecutive year with our custom-built Peace Train. Here's the link to this year's still developing thread right here on this message board:

Let's start the new year with a few notable statistics.
The average attendance for the five Fridays of Montrose Peace Vigil in December 2023 was 13 peaceniks, our best turnout since last April. In total, 20 people came to the corner to stand for peace and justice last month.
This message board marked the end of its second year of blocking all advertising with a record 10,564 ad free page views in December, which is 836 more views than the previous record set in October 2023. No doubt, -- including photos and embedded videos cued up to the Peace Train's appearances on the route -- attracted more traffic than usual.
Lastly, the Montrose Peace Vigil message board has now provided more than 160,000 ad free page views for members and guests since December 2021.

Anni with her candle display at the start of the Montrose Peace Vigil on January 26, 2024. The link below will take you to the first index page of the message board's Montrose Peace Vigil Activities department. In addition to the monthly threads with vigil reports, occasional photos and videos along with related posts by board members and guests, there are threads about our other activities over the years -- from the 40th anniversary tributes to John and Yoko's Bed-Ins in 2009 to our 12th march with the Peace Train last December. Guests are welcome to reply, as you can see. Hope to see you there even if you can't make it to the corner on Fridays! montrosepeacevigil.proboards.com/board/2/montrose-peace-vigil-activities

No matter how depressing the news is or how dissapointed I am with the world in general, my spirit is lifted by standing on the corner for our Peace Vigil. Lifted by fellow vigilers and the sweet public of Montrose, on foot or in passing cars.
