About ballons you can order from catalogs or I have seen them at the Dollar store. At Dollar store they will blow them up for you

Yes, it will be hot at the corner of Ocean View and Honolulu in Montrose for Friday's vigil from 5:30 to 7 p.m. But the public opposition to deploying more troops to Afghanistan is also heating up, yet another reason to be there, besides the good company. I'll also be taking more names for the reservation list for dinner on the patio of Gourmet-a-Go-Go (just half a block east) at 7 next Friday, Sept. 25. If you haven't already spoken up, please let me know on the board or, even better, on the corner tonight. About ballons you can order from catalogs or I have seen them at the Dollar store. At Dollar store they will blow them up for you That's a valuable suggestion, Linda. We'll keep it in mind. Anni's looking first for balloons with a child-oriented peace image.

I'm sure none of us in Montrose felt like being in a hot tub tonight, unlike Roberta in Montana. The weather here wasn't too warm, however. There's abundant shade on all three lawns on the corner these days, and the sun was long gone before we left after 7. Attendance this month is solid: - Sept. 4 - 15
- Sept. 11 - 13
- Sept. 18 - 14
We attained that number with no kids whatsoever. Instead, we were joined around 6 by a wonderful couple we'd never met, Irene and Edgar, who stayed until the end. Sigrid was able to make it back, saying she and Tony will be at the dinner next Friday at Gourmet-a-Go-Go, right down the street. Gourmet -a-Go-Go? *drools*
someone have the chicken currie in a croissant for me..... Martine ate there with us after the vigil last month -- there is no Gourmet-a-Go-Go in Winnipeg yet. Roberta's going to make reservations with the owner Gail when she returns. We'll need the entire patio and probably another table or two. We had a reservation for 12 last time. I have a list of that many confirmed plus three maybes already. If you haven't posted or told me you're coming, please let me know in the next few days. Click on "reply" in the blue boxes at the top and bottom of the page. It's going to be another great party!

Count the two of us in.
Last night at the GPV a woman pulled up to the curb and started yelling at us that we're racists for demonstrating while Obama is in office. She first yelled at our member with the rainbow flag and a big sign: I Support the right to Marry - which at this point is a state issue - nothing to do with Obama. There's a craziness in the air these days.

Fantastic! That makes 14 confirmed and one maybe, namely Terry. Might as well list everybody: - Sharon and Bill - Roberta - Jeanne - Nancy - Mike and friend - Bruce - Cynthia and friend - Sigrid and Tony - Anni and me Additionally, Linda, Bill B. and Chris, who were not at the vigil last Friday, told me the previous week that they were coming to dinner -- so we could have 18 on the patio of Gourmet-a-Go-Go. And a nice turnout on the corner before. (Paige and Louisa wanted to dine with us, but they have commitments on the 25th.) I forgot to ask Roberta when she's returning to town. But she said she'll make the reservation with Gail when she gets back. Meanwhile, here's the restaurant's website: www.gourmetagogoonline.com/index.php?page_id=5

I'm back and will tell Gail to expect our peaceful horde on Friday. Am so looking forward to vigiling (and bannering?) this week.

It turns out that we the hardy bannerers will be braving the hot winds up over the 210 in LaCanada starting at 5:15 Tuesday (tomorrow), so come say hi on the footbridge or drive by and give us a honk, wave or use your imagination!
