We did wind up with 17 for dinner Friday night at Gourmet-a-Go-Go, but not all the people I listed earlier this week. Although we added some folks, I'm sorry we lost a few from the corner. Things settled down, everyone ate well and most of us stayed past 9 p.m. When we arrived, I was expecting the long row of tables we had last two times a dozen of us dined there. Instead, three square and two little tables were spread around the patio with 16 chairs. After rearranging everything, we squeezed in 17 chairs. I didn't learn until the drive home that Anni, Linda and Robert had been standing near the back door, not sitting down right away, hoping they would have to go inside with the air conditioning. It was hot. Next time -- if we return before winter, and I'd love to -- we can plan it better. Here's this month's count of sign-bearing and flag-waving vigil participants: - Sept. 4 - 15
- Sept. 11 - 13
- Sept. 18 - 14
- Sept. 25 - 19
Tonight we built a critical mass for a Curveball vigil on the corner to mark the eighth anniversary of the war in Afghanistan on Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 6 to 7 p.m., under the flag.

I just posted our Tuesday Oct. 6th "curveball" (6-7pm) on the American Friends Service Association website. Will see where/how else I can spread the news.
