I am saddened and irritated that the various groups can't get it together and instead we end up with dueling demonstrations on two days, both smallish no doubt. And Sunday would presumably preclude some Christian supporters from participating. We must somehow move beyond being divided by ("clinging to"??) such customs

Hi peaceful friends -
Sorry to have been out of touch for so long. The season of peace seems to involve lots of Friday night church activities - not to mention a little travel to visit family. I am so appreciative of this group's perseverance through all things.
As a note of re-entry into the overall conversation - I think that there are many times during which the people of LA can act together for peace and healing. As long as we avoid Friday nights and Saturday and Sunday mornings, you can more or less avoid most religious services. I have been amazed lately at how many things I would love to do that can't happen. My local Democratic club invited me several times to elect county party reps....at 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning. My father passed away from ALS 14 years ago, but I can't join the walk to raise money for research, or even encourage my church to - because they walk at 10:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning. What's wrong with 1:00 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon???
On a less-annoyed note, I have been blessed lately with new connections to interfaith conversations about violence and tragedy in the Middle East. As events develop, I will let this group know so that you can participate if you wish.
Peace!
Paige

I haven't run into many links to activism in the past two weeks. Best I've found was an online registry, Code Pink's "Pledge to Hold Obama to his Promises for Peace," which they were still promoting in their Friday e-mail: www.codepinkalert.org/article.php?list=type&type=392The page I still see tonight was put up before the inauguration -- notice how many of his promises on Code Pink's list have already been kept or addressed, except maybe for their No. 1 (and mine). You can submit your e-mail address and also watch an inspirational video that uses only President Obama's words.

Hi all, I got this a few days ago, from American Friends Service Ctte. (AFSC), the good folks in the peace business for a very long time. Signing up means a promise to contact Obama every month, and AFSC will send reminders, talking points, etc. I'm sure they will happily accept donations to further their peace work! support.afsc.org/site/MessageViewer?em_id=7701.0&dlv_id=10801Peace, Roberta

I was ready to spew an entire spiel about the crimes of the past eight years and our collective culpability. Instead, for now, I'll just pass along the latest CREDO clicker to support House Resolution 104 with a field to customize for your Congressperson: act.credoaction.com/campaign/accountability_commission/

It is interesting that Brian gets different Code Pink message than I do, glad he posts. I have a special affection for PDA, because their online organizing led to our vigil. My time is quickly ending on this computer, this isn't the specific link to activism (this computer is blocking it!), but I'm sure you can get to it from here: pdamerica.org/articles/news/2009-02-02-22-31-56-news.php
