Getting in mood for May 29, I went to You Tube searching for the best videos related to the Bed-Ins. Skipping the black-and-white bootleg of Sir Paul's medley of "Day in the Life/Give Peace a Chance" at the Coachella festival last month, these are my nominations, both officially licensed. The first, which comes from the documentary "The U.S. vs. John Lennon," contains a ton of footage from street demonstrations worldwide and only a little of the hotel room. But we get the rarely heard complete performance of the song! Embedding isn't allowed, so here's the link -- you can get rid of the pop-up ad by clicking on the X in the upper-right corner or wait a few seconds for it to go away: This shorter video originates on imaginepeace.com, it says, assembles clips and soundbites from both Bed-Ins and proves for history how brilliant and visionary Dick Gregory has been:

I don't want to take anything for granted: Are Nancy and Jeanne willing to bring their instruments and play music at the second Bed-In? ;D

I'm so glad we will have music at the bed-in again. Tomorrow we can be making a list & checking it twice re stuff to bring/do for/on the 29th.
In other local news, I am very pleased to report that the Montrose Peace Vigil will be included in the groups (Boy Scouts etc.) laying flowers at the memorial at the upcoming Memorial Day observance in Montrose, i.e. our corner.
8:00 - 9am this Monday, May 25th. (Yes, not for those who like to sleep in on a holiday, I understand.)
I had an interesting time talking to the Shopping Pk Assoc/Chamber folks about this, details in person tomorrow.

I'll post a press release by Tuesday night, but meanwhile I've been lining up relatives and friends -- and making sure that infrequent Montrose Peace Vigil attendees know about the Bed-In. I will send e-mails to Karen and Debra and call Chris and Nadine. Spread the words -- flowers, bed, hair and peace -- to everybody between now and Friday.

The next post will be my proposed press release for the Bed-In. Everybody please feel free to copy and send it anywhere. The only thing to add to your e-mails to news organizations, I think, is your name and phone number in case someone wants to call you for information or confirmation during business hours. By the way, the week-long Montreal Bed-In started May 26, 1969 -- Channel 4 just ran a little commemoration at the end of its 11:00 news. Modified to add: I posted the press release on Yoko's website (and this board immediately got a guest from north of London) -- imaginepeace.com/news/archives/5782/comment-page-1#comment-3095
