Montrose Peace Vigil, a group of activists who have stood on a street corner every week since January 2005 to advertise for peace, will lie down to celebrate the 40th anniversary of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s Montreal Bed-In this Friday, May 29, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Ocean View Boulevard and Honolulu Avenue in Montrose, Calif. Our tribute to John and Yoko’s Amsterdam Bed-In last March was covered on the front page of the Glendale News Press: www.glendalenewspress.com/articles/2009/03/28/news/gnp-peace28.txtThis second Bed-In will have more of everything that made the first event so successful and joyful – live music, signs, pajamas, bathrobes, pillows and dozens of flowers to give to pedestrians in Montrose Shopping Park. The headboard and inflatable mattress return to the corner by popular demand. You’ll find more photos, links and plans on our message board: montrosepeacevigil.proboards.com/

We're going to try to make your Bed-In, would you like another guitar player? We'd love another guitar player, Sharon -- hope you can make it! No point in listing all that we're bringing to the Bed-In on Friday since we've posted everything in this thread and talked as well. Basically, it's what each of us brought to the first one (except we won't need Nancy's extra bed) plus some wonderful embellishments -- like Roberta's big paper flowers and little furniture, Jeanne's coat rack, Nancy's sheets and pillow and Anni's photos of John and Yoko. Others have been picking out their most festive pajamas and bathrobes. Jeanne has been sending e-mail invitations, Anni reports after their phone conversation tonight. Has anybody contacted Marian? Everybody I have heard from says he or she will be there. We're going to be knocked flat by the turnout -- luckily, the bed will cushion us.

Brian, Roberta, Bed-in-fellows: I just bring the signs & guitar & come in my nightgown this time, right? & Roberta is bringing sheets, pillows, paper flowers - Bruce - real flowers. & drums (I hope). Other folks guitars (so funn!!!). Bill, sound box with "Peace in Toronto." Roberta will inform the press, yes??? WhooO0PEEE!!! Let me know if I'm supposed to bring or do anything else (sheets? pillows? blankeys?) so all this excitement won't turn into performance anxiety. Huge turn out expected -eh? THIS IS GOING TO BE THE BEST BIGGER BETTER BED-IN EVER!!!!! LOVE TO ALL, Nancy

I did send out Brian's excellent release to local papers, and posted it on the Foothills Peace Coalition list. Mark Kelly took it to KCBS TV news and then I emailed it to the assignment desk guy -- he told Mark he was interested.
So plan a couple of sound bites and get ready for your close ups! Then say what you want them to print/broadcast, just work it into a response to whatever they ask.
I am bringing big flowers, sheets, pillows, chairs/night stand (sm.), my robe with the martinees on it ... that should do it! I am going to come at 5:45 to unload my car etc.

Roberta, are you also bringing the extra flower container or two? Thank you for all your work getting the news release out to so many outlets in all the various creative ways you told me about. We understand you have to leave the Bed-In early, so we'll take care of your things when we pack up at 8 p.m. I spoke to Nancy tonight and everything's going to go great! Anni will be there by 5:00 with the air mattress, pump, tarp, pillow (it's good to have more to choose from), the headboard and an elegantly framed photo of John and Yoko. I got called into jury duty tomorrow, so I can't control when I'll arrive on the corner from downtown, but I'm hoping for a break. If necessary, I'll declare my urge to try jury nullification. I won't see this message board after 7:30 this morning, but Anni will check in this afternoon if anyone has any questions, last-minute changes or good wishes -- so keep posting! ![:-*](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/kiss.png)
