Here's a link to the May 15 eBlast regarding the VHGC: www.gcvoice.org/emails/2010May15.htmAlso, Richard Stewart, the infamous Tujunga Canyon Blvd. 'Bandito', was married today to Susan Boughton. Here is some video of the special event...which took place where the Bandito has been creating his rock sculptures. www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=395905226261#!/video/video.php?v=396529686261 V.O.I.C.E. The cashier at Baja Fresh on Thursday evening said she was getting lots of flyers taking advantage of the restaurant's offer to donate 15 percent of their customers' receipts to the Save the Verdugo Hills Golf Course campaign -- a tasty way to give a little more and show our support in public. The next scheduled fundraiser is July 25 at Golf n' Grill in Tujunga. Glendale-Crescenta VOICE -- Volunteers Organized in Conserving the Environment -- also plans a Giant Garage Sale this autumn. Last week's eBlast has more details and other news: www.gcvoice.org/emails/2010May15.htmThanks, Karen, for cluing us into the Bandito. I had wondered what was up when I drove by two nights in a row and saw him committing serious landscaping work around a wedding canopy.

I loved that they (I assume the bride was down with it!) got married out there and invited the community to join them!
Just clicked on the Events tab on the Save the VHGC facebook page because I wanted to put the next fundraiser in my calendar. Wasn't a miniature golf and burger night announced? Please enlighten us KarenZ!

Roberta, there is a fundraiser planned for the Golf 'n Grill on Foothill Blvd. in Tujunga for July. I haven't posted it on the Facebook page yet. Good point. I'll try to get that added within the next day or two. I did include the Golf 'n Grill event in the eBlast that is winging its way to Inboxes throughout the greater Crescenta Valley and beyond. I also uploaded the June 9 eBlast to the SaveTheGolfCourse.Org website: www.gcvoice.org/emails/2010Jun9.htmIf you are not receiving the eBlast in your Inbox and would like to have it emailed directly to you, you can subscribe at: www.gcvoice.org/get-involved/sign_up_page.htm

Thanks for keeping us posted, KarenZ and the reason I asked about the July 25th Golf and Grill specifically is because it sounds like a fun activity for Montrose Peace Vigilers and their peacenik, tree-hugging fellow travelers. To fit in before or after Empty Bowls that day of course.
Maybe we could get the long-lost other KarenZ and Debra to join in?!

Roberta, I think there are actually three of us KarenZs. I've seen the picture of the Montrose Peace Vigil KarenZ in the Glendale NewsPress. And I've met another KarenZ in Tujunga at a community meeting about Canyon Hills, this would have been back in 2004 or 2005. Who woulda thought there would be so many Karen Zimmermans! ;D I saw your post when I logged on to spread the word about the current eBlast --> www.gcvoice.org/emails/2010Jun13.htmThis one comes on the tail of the last Blast. I wanted to post a quick reminder about the La Cabanita Fundraiser on Tuesday, the 15th of June....tomorrow. And because of Mike Lawler's column in last week's CV Weekly. The June 13 eBlast has some visuals simulating what the development would look like: Source: DEIR Figure IV.B-18 Figure IV.B-17

The La Canada Valley Sun posted the following in the June 23, 2010 issue: "Fifty Years Ago - The 18-hole, 3-par Verdugo Hills Golf Course opened on 28 acres of land near La Tuna Canyon. The owners were Joe Piuma of Flintridge, John Fellows of La CaƱada and Bill Hairston, a member of Oakmont Country Club."We're asking Facebookers to visit the Save the VHGC Facebook FAN PAGE to leave their own comment or 'like' regarding the Golden Anniversary. The more, the merrier. www.facebook.com/pages/Save-the-Verdugo-Hills-Golf-Course/251085423613?ref=sgm#!/pages/Save-the-Verdugo-Hills-Golf-Course/251085423613?ref=sgm P.S. Thank you, Brian, for posting Mike's June 17th column, "The Lost Indian Village of the Crescenta Valley"

My favorite mass e-mails in the past several weeks have come from Save the Verdugo Hills Golf Course. Karen Z. slipped another great eBlast into my in box last night. If you're not on the list yet: www.gcvoice.org/emails/2010Jun30.htmI love few things more than marching down the middle of a boulevard, but Anni and I are committed elsewhere for the Fourth of July -- too bad we'll miss the parade that starts at 9 a.m. in the Vons parking lot on the Sunland-Tujunga border. The weather is supposed to be beautiful as well.
