We stand for peace on a mostly shady corner for 60 to 90 minutes once or twice a week, but neither one of us would consider standing in line for four hours for Ian Hunter or Tim Finn, and you know how we feel about them. (Of course, we've never had to exert ourselves with their general admission shows to sit front row center -- we'd arrive just an hour early at larger venues and even the old Largo.) Neil is a rare artist who can inspire that much dedication.
Martine, we'll make sure that you get there when you want, bring you food and drinks in line and wave to you from a few rows back once inside.
When I estimated six hours yesterday, I figured two hours in line, two for the show without an opening act (I can wish) and two for the wait, meet and greet following. Anni and I together have 80 years of concertgoing experience in L.A. so we know line etiquette. We'll hang with you and some mutual friends -- most especially, Kathleen! -- up front one at a time, letting your neighbors behind you know that we're just visiting and perhaps making new friends. Neil Finn's fans are some of the sweetest people on Earth.
And just think, the truly wonderful Steve W of Glendale will be there with his entourage too. Whatever happens, happens.

see, i don't know how this is going to work.
you have my ticket on your credit card, therefore, in order for me to get a front row seat (which...if it happens, great, if it doesn't happen it won't be the end of the world, but would still be nice) then you need to be by my side when that will call window snaps open. i think i can hold the spot in line and just explain to people that i'm your lineup proxy. i suppose the largo people will seat you further back if that's your preference (george tells me the audio is much better several rows back..but i guess i'll never know *grins*)
also--not sure if you know this--but i have tickets on my credit card for other people, so because their tickets are on my credit card, their seat assignment depends on me as well. but i plan on hiring lineup proxies for myself.
and...here it is friday night...and apparently..tickets have NOT sold out. isn't that strange?
i appreciate your good sport/naturedness about this whole thing. i am still pinching myself every day. even my mother thinks this is one of the strangest things she's ever heard of.
i still think steve w is ignoring me--i pm'd him looking for a tuesday ticket for den and tried to friend him on facebook and he's ignoring me.
or has a life. ;D
you can add my 34 years of concert going to your and anni's 80 (although, I have zero years of concert experience in the city of angels, true)

I just found the sub-menus on the Largo board. Anni and I both want to learn more from them to apply our particular circumstances to their ticketless system and see what choices we have to adapt. Also, we need to find out where the line will be exactly and whether it's in the shade or the sun at that hour -- the theater is on the east side of La Cienega.
Anni will be in Hollywood anyway Monday afternoon, so she'll go back and talk to the nice man at the ticket window.

I went to the new Largo and spoke to the same nice man who nonetheless thought I was a loon to be so worried. ;D In short, we do not have to stand in the sun with you for two hours before the Will Call opens. You can claim the tickets in my name easily, go inside and get written seat assignments -- or just yours -- and come out and get your hand stamped. Or we can take our tickets from you instead if people complain and take seats in the back after we go to dinner at 7.

Martine, I bought the 64 oz. -- or should I say, the 1.89 liter --bottle of Clamato at the store tonight. It was on sale too. So what goes with that to make those Caesars of yours? Vodka? And is there any vegetation added? bloody neil finn. now he's announcing a third show. i give up!! Yes, you did! Know what I thought would be cool to bring, in case we talk to Neil after a show? That CD you and Steve engineered of my bootleg of the first U.S. tour by Split Enz, at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach in February 1977. It would be a gift if he were interested. Because it wouldn't be right to ask him to autograph it since he wasn't in the band yet.
