Martine, you might have heard about the recent grand opening of the Madame Tussaud's building. Unfortunately, the wax museum you were kept from visiting on your one day here back in 1992 no longer exists. This architecture review in Monday's Los Angeles Times doesn't mention the new statues much, but you may be interested in the glimpses it gives you of the neighborhood, the tour and the building's layout, along with some photos: latimesblogs.latimes.com/culturemonster/2009/08/architecture-review-madame-tussauds-in-hollywood.htmlIn case you missed it at the bottom of the previous page, I posted a serious question two days ago. The Internets have different recipes for Caesars. What are your ingredients? The seven-day forecasts say the cooler-than-usual summer weather should continue past your arrival.

heh heh. brian: caesars: clamato juice/vodka/worcestershire/bitters/salt around the rim/celery stalk..........but in a pinch, clamato juice/vodka & worcestershire is good enough. heh heh heh.
i'm in enough trouble with mr finn as it is...but i think it's a marvellous thing brian..why don't you offer it to neil yourself? (the huntington beach audio)
i love wax musuems brian and i don't even mind if jean is not there. i find it quite fascinating as it's something we don't really have in winnipeg, other than whatever they have on display at the manitoba musuem of man and nature.
here are some harlow addresses:
9820 Easton Dr (Paul Bern death house) 214 S Beverly Glen Blvd (The Big White House) 512 N Palm Dr Beverly Hills (Jean's last house)
If any of those are relatively easy to find..that would be too cool.
I see that MJ was buried (or whatever) at Forest Lawn--this bodes even worse for humble little Jean Harlow fans--security wise...I wouldn't want to be mistaken for an MJ fan!

I see that MJ was buried (or whatever) at Forest Lawn--this bodes even worse for humble little Jean Harlow fans--security wise...I wouldn't want to be mistaken for an MJ fan! That could never happen. There are two Forest Lawns: Michael Jackson is associated with Hollywood Hills. Jean Harlow rests in Glendale. No problemo. All of those addresses you gave are accessible. We can drive by anytime. Or even get out of the car and use the sidewalk! It's still America around here. Also, have you got a favorite vodka? About the pre-Neil Split Enz bootleg, I was sounding you out for your opinion whether it's a wacky thing for me to offer to him. That Times article made me a lot more interested in seeing the new Madame Tussaud's. Glad we're going.

mta: vodka: don't have a favourite, just plain old vodka ...stolly, maybe?

I copied that entire review and pasted it in a Word document just to measure it: 8004 words and 15 pages with photos and 11-point type. I can't remember ever reading a report about a 90-minute show with that much detail. Only 31 hits so far.
On Next Exit I saw that Bic Runga and Lisa Germano are joining Neil for what sounds like a different "7 Worlds Collide" show here. Have you gleaned any news about the rest of Sunday's line up at the Largo -- and whether Monday and Tuesday will also feature guests (besides the usual L.A. sit-ins, Jon Brion and Sebastian Steinberg)?
I've got an extra copy of that 1977 Split Enz bootleg from Steve W. after you sent me yours, Martine. No, it's just in a plain sleeve. I didn't know George did artwork for it!

the author warns the reader it's a freaking long review and as fast as I read, it probably took at least 20 minutes to get through it. she claims she's going to re-visit and edit, but i like it the way it is.
the other guest on sunday night will be KT Tunstall who also appears on the new 7WC disc. She and Bic Runga apparently wrote a "murder ballad" which i'm sure they'll be performing together. So, that'll be cool. Plus KT and Neil wrote a song together so that'll be interesting as well. The Sunday night show is a sort of 7WC preview show as was the Tuesday night show in London--which obviously featured a lot more well known members of famous rock bands (Wilco, Radiohead) but Sunday should prove very groovy. I've never seen Bic Runga perform and am looking forward to it..I think she sings like an angel.
Don't know what Neil has up his sleeve for Monday and Tuesday..anything can happen ;D
I asked Geo today if he did artwork for it and he says he's never done artwork for any Enz bootlegs, so no, there won't be any artwork to pass onto Neil.
Were you able to get a lead on any canadian tobacco, brian?

Brian gave me a post-it note with your ciggies name. The guy in the fancy tobacco shop said he'd heard of them and he used to sell them but, NOT NOW. He couldn't refer me to any other store that might have them...Maybe you can pick some up in the duty free store at the airport??? I'm also checking the internets for: Dumaurier Special Mild/King Size/Blue hard pack, right???
